Lorenzo Hugh McCarty, 84, of Franklin, entered into rest Monday, January 10, 2005.
A native of Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Hugh and Edna C. Buelow McCarty. He was a timber worker and last worked for the US Forest Service; was a US World War II Army veteran; and a member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ollie Mae Dills McCarty; three daughters, Mertis L. Gibson, Barbara Fouts, and Jo Ann Fouts, all of Franklin; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, January 13, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Donna Cobb will officiate. Burial will be in the Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Gibson, Fred Dills and Ricky Dills, Joe Dills, and Edward Dills.
