Kenneth Whitehurst, 91, of Melbourne, FL, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Roland Whitehurst and Althea Wettlauffer Whitehurst. Kenneth was a retired US Marine Major, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a consultant for Consumer Reports; member of the American Legion in Melbourne, FL; life member of the Retired Officers Association; charter life member of the Marine Corp Association and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Amy Louisa Swartwout Whitehurst; daughter, Sherry Davis and husband James of Port Royal, SC; son, Roland D. Whitehurst of Annapolis, Maryland; grandson, R. Scott Porst of Tennessee; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a niece Marscher Reynolds.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 29, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Brandon Breedlove and the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108 will officiate.
