Kenneth Lee Chastain, 79, of Otto, NC, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2010. He was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church and a Mason at the Junaluska Lodge. He had a life-long passion for singing gospel-bluegrass music and playing the guitar, and was the lead singer of the Calvary Mountain Boys and the Gospel Carriers. His music and memory will be deeply cherished by his family and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father Curt Chastain and his mother Edna Seagle Chastain. He is survived by his wife Tamsey Carpenter Chastain, with whom he had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 24, 2010. He is also survived by two children, a daughter, Wanda Janow and husband Donnie of Otto, NC, and a son, Randy Chastain and wife, Aggie of Glenrose, TX; six grandchildren, Tracy Janow Baggett of Evans, GA, Shay Janow of Otto, NC, Rodney Chastain of Greensboro, NC, Randy Lee Chastain of Birmingham, AL, Michelle Quintans of Atlanta, GA, and Michael Chastain of Lexington, SC, 7 great-grandchildren, and a number of relatives.
The funeral service was held at Coweeta Baptist Church in Otto on December 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., and the family is receiving relatives and friends an hour before the service. Pallbearers were Kenny Chastain, Chris Norton, Mick Mason, Larry Shope, Bud Haire and Jerry Chastain. Honorary pallbearers were Junior Crowe, Robert Bradley, Furman Elliott, Roy Chastain and Roy Ramsey.
