Mrs. Ramey

Mrs. Katherine Evelyn (James) Ramey, 85, of 40 Calvary Drive, -Calvary Area, Otto, passed on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at home with her daughter.
Mrs. Ramey, was married 36 years, to Mr. C.L. Ramey, who passed on Jan. 6, 1983. She was a homemaker, wife, mother and a member of Newmans Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ramey a 1942 graduate of Girls High, Anderson, SC, was briefly employed as a foodservice employee of the Equinox Textile Mill in the early 1940's.
Mr. and Mrs. Ramey were foster parents briefly in 1955 for 2 brothers, for the state of SC. Later they resided in Transylvania –Buncombe counties, later residing in Jackson Co., where they were foster parents to a brother and sister (with their dau.-Sarah) 1967-1970. for the Baptist Children's Homes of NC. They were founders of Broyhill Home, Clyde.
Since the early 1940's, Mrs. Ramey had taught Sunday School, Church Training, VBS, a GA Ldr., in Women's Missionary Circle. In her later yrs., she taught Sunday School, Church Training, VBS, VBS Dir, Organized the church WMU in 1985, WMU Dir. At The Newman Chapel Baptist Church. Assisted in Adult Sunday School, Baptist Women's Pres. at The Coweeta Baptist Church. Sunday School teacher, missions educator, pianist at Calvary Baptist Church. She had learned, taught, and supported missions and was a local missionary and supported the WMU, and other areas of her interest, of the Macon Baptist Assoc., where she served at times as a messenger to the meetings. She loved crocheting and had made many gifts for illneses, marriages, babies housewarming gifts. She also loved and cared for flowers and had helped her family in gardening.
Mrs. Ramey, born July, 10, 1925, in Anderson, SC she was a granddaughter to the late Luther Lindsey and Sarah (Phillips) Jame Thomas Newton and Frances Miranda (Waldrep) Akins. Daughter of the late Thurman Thaddeus James (dec. 2-2-'98, WillaPearle (Akins) James. (dec 2-2-'48) Also preceded in death by a "young" infant sister, Martha Sue James (dec. 1-24), Stepmother's, Mrs. Mary Alice (Sluder) James (dec. 12-83), Mrs. Marie (Young) James (dec. 8-96) and her only brother, Thomas Alfred James (dec. 12-02. Mrs. Ramey is a daughter, Miss Sarah Ann Ramey of the home and her kitty friend, "Butterscotch". She was the last member of her family.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The receiving of friends will be held one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home. Rev.'s Alton Dendy, Davis Hooper, Bobby Cloer and Danny Cannon will officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be minister friends of Mrs. R., Miss R. Interment will be in Newmans Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
