Joseph "Joe" Adrian Souto, Sr., surrounded by his family, passed away in his home on January 28, 2016, at the age of 83.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Heriberto and two brothers, Herbert W. and William F. Joe was born in 1932 and raised in Tampa, Florida. In 1952, he entered the United States Marine Corps and was combat wounded in the Korean War, resulting in a Purple Heart Medal. After returning home, he met his future wife, Shirley, and they were married on August 20, 1955. He received his BA degree from the University of Tampa and his Master's Degree from the University of South Florida. He was employed by the Pasco County School District as the principal of Shady Hills Elementary for 18 years. He retired in 1990 and that's when he and Shirley moved to Franklin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, his daughters, Jennifer (John) Butler, Madeline (Gene) Stoker, and his son, Joe, Jr. (Mary) Souto: grandchildren, Matthew, Morgan, Tyler, Garrett and Adrianna as well as great-grandchildren, Landin, Avery, Lincoln and Macy.
As a highly devoted husband and father to his family, and a friend to all, he will be missed more than words can express….
Graveside service will be held at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, February 1, at 11 am. Reverend John Hartley will officiate.
Donations can be made in his memory to Liberty Baptist Church of Franklin and Four Seasons Hospice.
