Joseph Peter "Pete" Pons, 99, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015.
Born in Asheville, he was the son of the late John Peter Pons and Janie Hurley Pons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Pons; brother, Frank William Pons and granddaughter, Bonnie Pons. Pete was a US Air Force veteran and served during WWII as a mechanic. He loved deep sea fishing and was an excellent swimmer. He equally loved working and golfing. He was an entrepreneur and inventor; holding several patents. Joseph was the 2nd oldest Waldensian in the US. He attended the Christian Training Center, Inc.
He is survived by sons, Larry Pons and wife Susan of Franklin, Richard Pons and wife Patsy of Hickory, NC and Stanley Pons and wife Sheila of Valbonne, France; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Sunday, February 8th at the Christian Training Center. Larry Pons will officiate. Interment will be in the Waldensian Presbyterian Cemetery in Valdese, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Christian Training Center International, 234 Watchman Lane, Franklin, NC 28734.
