Johnny Mashburn, 74, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Henry J. Mashburn and Ruth Angel Mashburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Durenda Mashburn; brother, Richard "Dick" Mashburn and a sister, Frances Morrison. Johnny worked for the NC DOT for many years. He loved the mountains, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Opal Pearl Wilson Mashburn; three children, Debbie Del Fosse and husband Rick of Columbus, NC, Graham Mashburn of Franklin and Angie Bowen and husband Todd of Franklin; three brothers, Jack Mashburn and Wayne Mashburn both of Franklin and Gene Mashburn of Dothan, AL; three sisters, Edna Burnette of Asheville, Susie Shires of Virginia and Betty Moffitt of Asheville; a granddaughter, Victoria "Tori" Bowen and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2nd, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Hayes and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
