Obituary

Johnnie E. McSwain, Jr., 77, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2006.

A native of Daytona Beach, FL, he was the son of the late Johnnie E. McSwain, Sr. and Effie Woods McSwain. He retired from Palm Beach County School System as Electrical Supervisor and moved to Franklin in 1981. He was owner of Martin Electric from 1981-1987 and was the Fixed Base Operator of Macon County Airport from 1988-1994. Johnnie was a licensed pilot and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of Burningtown Baptist Church and the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge #145.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mildred Algire McSwain; children, Susan H. Starke and husband Tom of Columbia, SC and Robert W. Hershberger of Lynchburg, TN; daughter-in-law, Susan M. Hershberger of Estill Springs, TN; grandchildren, Corey Lynn Hershberger, Thomas Robert Hershberger, Benjamin Thomas Starke and William Andrew Starke; two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 10, at Burningtown Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Kinard and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, December 9, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Reid, Robert Hershberger, Tom Starke, Larry Elmore, Junior Burch, Benjamin Starke, William Starke and George Taylor.

Memorial donations may be made to the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Bill Simonds, 279 Edwards Road, Franklin, NC 28734.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
