John Picking, 74, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007.
Born in Ware, Mass. he was the son of the late Francis Picking and Victoria Zahara Picking. John was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 7339. He was a mechanic; member of First United Methodist Church, Nascar fan and enjoyed woodworking and remodeling.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Picking; daughter, Tanya Picking of Chicopee, Mass.; step son, Edward A. Maia of Monson, Mass.; brother, William Picking of Summerfield, FL; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Allen and the VFW Post 7339 will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, Mass. at a later date.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
