Obituary
John Daniel "Danny" McGee, 69, went peacefully to the arms of the Lord on March 4, 2011.
He was born on December 3, 1941, in Charleston, SC. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Tinsley McGee and John Daniel McGee of Columbus, GA and sister and her her husband, Joann McGee Burts and brother-in-law, Robert HH Burts of Highlands, NC.
He leaves behind a niece, Anne Moremen and husband Kelley of Athens, GA; nephew, Robert HH Burts and wife, Lisa of Atlanta, GA; and great nieces and nephews, Tinsley Anne Sumrell, Robert Bennett Sumrell, Christina Burts and Kelsey Burts. Danny had resided at Macon ICF-MR Group Home in Franklin since 1991 and leaves a family of staff and clients and a host of friends. He was an active member of the Special Friends Sunday School class at First Baptist Church and the MCH Singing Angels. He faithfully attended the Happiness Retreat at Camp Truett in Hayesville each year.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at First Baptist Church, Franklin, NC. The Rev. Lester Evans will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date in Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MCH, PO Box 698, Franklin, NC 28744.
