John Kenneth Jacobsen, 77, of Franklin, NC and Madeira Beach, FL, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 5, 2012.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late John Rudolph Jacobsen and Alice Nelson Jacobsen. Ken was a US Navy Officer for 2 years, an inventor, scientist, engineer and founder of K & L Research Company. He also served as Mayor of Madeira Beach, FL for 12 years. Ken was a member of Franklin Amateur Radio Club, Camera Club and Radio Controlled Plane Club. He loved to travel, camp and hike with his wife Lois at his side.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois Holmberg Jacobsen; son, Gary Scott Jacobsen and wife Chris of San Jose, CA; daughter, Lori Lux and husband Louis of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Tyler Jacobsen, Travis Lux, Rebecca Lux and Kyle Lux; one niece and one nephew.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Florida.
Memorial donations can be made to the Macon County Library or the Gulf Beaches Public Library or the Macon County Arts Council.
