Obituary

John Eighmy, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, of Cashiers, North Carolina passed
away January 12th from a short, courageous fight against cancer.

Born December 28th, 1955 in Ithaca, New York to Claire and the late John Eighmy. He graduated High
School in 1973 from Attleboro High School, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts.
He moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1979 to start a construction trade with his brother Phil. John
attended Manatee College and earned a degree in Electronic Engineering. He was married to Margaret O'Connor on June 20th, 1981. They later had three daughters, Shayna, 26, Hannah, 24, and Olivia, 22. John and his family moved to Cashiers, North Carolina in April of 1985. He started his own cabinet business, Cashiers Valley Interior Finish, in May of 1985. They later divorced.
John was a master craftsman and cabinet maker; he was a pilot and enjoyed flying and was a musician and talented guitar player. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family. He was a generous and spiritual man that touched the hearts of many people.

He was married to Amapola Orquin on July 10th, 2010 and became a stepfather to Apryl Eighmy, 12.
John is survived by his wife Amapola and stepdaughter Apryl both of Cashiers, North Carolina, his
three daughters, Shayna (Kent) Foster of New Mexico, Hannah (Micheal) Grzesiak of Colorado, and
Olivia (Fiance Zach) Eighmy of Wisconsin, his mother, Claire Eighmy of Oklahoma, four brothers,
Steve (Sylvia) from Massachusetts, Phil (Charlene) of Florida, Kevin (Lea) of Connecticut, Mark
(Misty) of Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews and the mother of his three daughters, Margaret
O'Connor-Govett. He was preceded in death by his father John Eighmy.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Dean Cesa will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18 at Macon Funeral Home.
