Joan Diane Robertson, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013.
Joan was born in Milden, Saskatchewan, Canada on February 27, 1943 and grew up in Caney, Kansas. She became an American citizen in Topeka, Kansas on October 12, 1961. After graduation from college Joan taught elementary school in the Midwest and then in Pinellas County, Florida for thirty years. After retirement she moved to Franklin, NC. Her love of the mountains kept her here full time. Joan worked at Macon Furniture for many years. She was a faithful Christian who was excitedly involved with the startup of the Biltmore Baptist Church Franklin Campus. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Myrtle Robertson; her father, James Richard Robertson and her brother, Allan James Robertson. She is survived by her niece, Diane Robertson Stram of Winter Springs, Florida; her nephew, Allan Robertson, Jr. and her sister-in-law, Louise Robertson both of Casselberry, Florida; many close friends and her beloved dog, Rachel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
