Jimmie Lee Simmons, 75, of Franklin, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012.
Born in Hollywood, GA, he was the son of the late Grover Lee Simmons and Jane Ann Busha Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ann Bailey Simmons who died March 25, 2009; brother, Limmie Doyle Simmons; sister, Chalotta Simmons Sweet and great granddaughter, Sarai Ann Taylor. Jimmie was a retired CWO III U.S. Army veteran; he worked as Chief of Maintenance for Mearl Corp; was a member of Faith Baptist Church serving as chairman of the deacons, and he loved to restore old cars and play music.
He is survived by two children, Randy Simmons and wife Rhonda of Greencastle, PA and Teressa Simmons of Franklin; three grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Lee Simmons and wife Carrie, Jimmie Randall Simmons and Anna Sasha Koreen Taylor and husband, Jonathan; and three great grandchildren, Austin Lee Simmons, Madison Grace Simmons and Allison Nicole Howe.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 29, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Lee Williams and Rev. Frank Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
Nephews will serve as Pallbearers, Rich Gibson, Michael Gibson, Kevin Holland, Hugh Holland, Brian Holland, Barry Bryson and Chuck Bailey.
