Jesse Braxton Dale
Braxton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2011, in Asheville, NC after a long illness.
He was born in Camden Co. NC to Jesse F. and Elizabeth Taylor Dale on April 30, 1926. Braxton was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bobby, William and Donnie.
He is survived by his wife Joann Wolford Dale after 61 years of marriage; two sons, Larry B. Dale, Michael O. Dale and wife Amy; one daughter, Cynthia D. Stewart and husband T.W.; three grandchildren, Betsy D. Apel and husband Stephen, Savannah and Julia Dale; one grandson, Robby Dale and wife Erika; one step-grandson, William Tolp and wife Tonia; three sisters, Francis Polock and husband Jack, Doris Campbell and husband Keith and June Lilly and husband Marvin and many nieces and nephews.
He served in World War II in the US Navy in the Pacific and the Marine Corps during the Korean War at Parris Island, SC. After the war he served in the Norfolk, VA Fire Department. Later he moved his family to Ft. Myers, FL. In 1993, he retired from the Shell Oil Co. of Tampa, giving he and his wife the opportunity to move to the mountains of Franklin, NC. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He loved his Lord, family, friends and his "adopted children" at the Fun Factory.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2011, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Bud Haire will officiate. Rev. Ed Trull will sing "Beulah Land" and Bret Trull will sing .
Pallbearers will be Mike Dale, T.W. Stewart, Stephen Apel, Rev. Brandon Breedlove, Frank Copeland and Ray Corbin.
