Jeff is also survived by his parents Clell & Helen Morton of Franklin, NC, his sister Cindy Morton Curtis & her husband Steve Curtis of Greenville, SC. He is survived by 3 grandsons Sam, Will, & Park, a niece Cortney and a nephew Ethan.
Jeff fell in love with the game of golf at an early age. That love of golf lead him to coaching the golf team at The University of Mississippi, then to being a rules official on the LPGA Tour and most recently, Director of Operations, Rules and Competitions at the Southern Texas Section of the PGA. His colleague stated "Jeff was always ready with a joke or anecdote and his sour mood was better than the average person's best mood. He loved golf but he loved the people of golf more." He was an ambassador for the game of golf and was nationally regarded as one of the foremost authorities on the USGA Rules of Golf, its Decisions and golf tournament operations. Jeff also loved the rodeo, Ole Miss Football and, was happiest with a golf club in one hand and a Diet Dr Pepper in the other.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeff's life will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, February 2nd, at First Baptist Church. Dr. Robert Brown and Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Southern Texas PGA Foundation, 21604 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX 77373 or the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77054.
