Jeane Jacobs Mallard, 66, of Gibsonton, FL and Franklin, NC, died Saturday, December 25, 2010.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Bertha Jacobs. In addition she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Jacobs. Jeane graduated from Franklin High School and Western Carolina University. She taught school in Franklin, NC, Durham, NC, Sierra Vista, AZ, Cottonwood, AL and Canton, GA. She also was a Century 21 Real Estate Broker in Durham, NC for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and other arts and crafts. She was devoted to her pets. Jeane was an enthusiastic supporter of Duke University.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey M. Mallard, Jr.; two brothers, Harry Jacobs of Franklin and Leonard Jacobs of Pensacola, FL; several nieces, nephews and brother and sister-in laws.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 1, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Stacy Woods will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
