Obituary

Jean M. Sutton, 74, of Franklin, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Born in Macon Co., she was the daughter of the late Phil and Tootsie Kinnebrew McCollum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother. Jean spent her professional career working in the business community of Franklin and retired after 30 years with the Social Security Administration. Jean was an active member of the Macon County chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Macon County Extension Homemaker's Sewing Club. For over fifty years, she was a member of the Clark's Chapel Community Club and the Clark's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she actively served as Sunday school teacher and pianist. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Sutton; daughter, Renee McCall and husband Mike; son, Chuck Sutton and wife Vickie all of Franklin; sister, Nancy Jane Holmes and husband Jimmy of Duncan, SC; twin sister, Joy McCollum of Franklin; two brothers, Tommy McCollum and wife Jean and Bob McCollum and wife Elaine both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Heather McClure and husband Byron, Laurel Moore and husband Patrick, Cory McCall and wife Bethany and Kaitlyn Sutton, all of Franklin; seven great grandchildren, Grace, Garrett, Griffin and Gus Moore, Miles and Max McClure and Sawyer McCall and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13th, at Clark's Chapel United Methodist Church, 1999 Clark's Chapel Road, Franklin, NC. Rev. Al Beck, Rev. Randy Perdue and Rev. Patrick Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 12th, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pall bearers will be Tommy Ashe, Bill Edwards, Bill Dyar, Joe Doster, Terry McCoy, Bob Rollins, Bruce Wooten, and Mike Vanhook. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Clark's Chapel Church Choir.
Memorial donations can be made to Clark's Chapel U.M.C. Parsonage Fund, 1999 Clark's Chapel Rd., Franklin, NC 28734, or to one's favorite charity.
