Eva "Jean" Lovejoy, resident of Otto community, peacefully let go into the arms of Jesus at 2:03 on March 8th, 2011, after a courageous battle with kidney failure.
Jean was the daughter of the late Earl Rose and Bertha Martin Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norman Dale Lovejoy and four brothers, Hayward, Hugh, Harold and Bob Rose. She served our country proudly in the Navy as an Aviation Machinist during World War II – stationed in Hawaii. She worked at Sangamo Factory in Georgia before her retirement. She loved the county fair where she won several ribbons for her cross stitching and vegetables. She loved to set out on Saturday mornings and go to yard-sales. She loved doing crafts, cross stitching, listening to 50's and 60's music, laughing, cutting jokes, sitting in the sun and dreaming, loved animals and loved to write poems; some were published in the Nikwaski Book. Jean touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity; she maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. She loved the bus trip she took out west and always cherished that trip. She was of Assembly of God faith and loved to attend church in Hayesville with Brother Chris Rumfelt.
She has one daughter of the home, Leilani Lovejoy Deaver and two sons, Jerry Lovejoy of Asheville and Tim Lovejoy and wife Margaret of Plant City, FL; four grandchildren, Richard Baxley of Franklin, Belinda Baxley of Thomasville, NC, Matt Lovejoy of Florida and Jennifer MacArthur of Florida; four great grandchildren, Santanna Baxley, Rick Baxley and Dakota Baxter all three of Thomasville, NC and Casey MacArthur of Florida and several nieces and nephews and cousins in Michigan.
