James "Joe" Moore, 80, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Born in Macon Co. he was the son of the late Harold Moore and Kathryn Conley Moore. Joe was a US Navy veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 7339 and member of Memorial Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Anderson Moore; daughter, Jo Diane Rogers and husband Jerry of Franklin; two sons, David Moore and wife Debra of Hendersonville, NC and Dan Moore and wife Christy of Franklin, NC; two sisters, Dorothy Buchanan of Pisgah Forest and Sally McCoy of Seneca, SC; brother, George Harold Moore of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Jason Rogers, Jennifer Penland, Tyler Moore, Hannah Moore, Caleb Moore, Mattie Moore and Mollie Moore and great grandson, William Rogers.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Newell and Rev. Bud Haire will officiate. Burial will be in Carson Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Moore, Jason Rogers, Tyler Moore, Caleb Moore, Colby Anderson and Stan Penland.
