James W. Lockhart, 89, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012.
Born in Washington, IN, he was the son of the late William and Beulah Lockhart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chrystal Wise Lockhart; three sisters, Alcora, Rosemary and Betty and a brother, Gene. James was a US Army veteran and was on the beach during the invasion of Normandy in WWII. He worked for the US Postal Service, where he was a postal office clerk. He was a certified public accountant; a member of VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108; volunteered at AARP with tax help and volunteered at Angel Auxiliary Thrift Shop. James was a member of Iotla Baptist Church.
He is survived by niece, Ruth Hensz Stilwell and several other nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22 at Rush Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
