Obituary
James Ronald Harper, 71, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Born in Catawba Co, NC, he was the son of the late Williams Lacy Harper and Ruby McCoy Harper. James was a US Air Force veteran and served from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. James was a scientist and earned his PHD in Botany from Washington State University. He liked to hunt and loved to read.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Deppe and husband Joseph of Franklin; brother, William Lacy Harper Jr. of Alabama and three grandchildren, Damien Heater, Max and Lucas Deppe.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 9th at Macon Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to Asheville VAMC (Veteran's Hospice Center) Attn: Hospice, 1100 Tunnell Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
