James "Lewis" Dalton, 53, of Watauga Road, Franklin, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of Lawrence Grady Dalton and Edna Raby Dalton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Bobby Dalton. Lewis worked at Hunter's Body Shop, Nantahala Lumber Company and with Jimmy Ammons. He will be remembered as a good friend to many and will be greatly missed. He was a member of Watauga Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Dalton of Franklin; a brother, Joseph Lane Dalton of Franklin; three sisters, Dora Ann Vinson of Otto, Sara Jean Dalton of Franklin and Mary C. Cook of Bryson City; two grandchildren, Mya Hughes and Ava Hughes and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Watauga Baptist Church. Rev. Rick Potts and Rev. David Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Vanhook, Ray Sanders, Alvin Johnson, Roger Bishop, Andrew Raby, Mitchell Bishop, Jimmy Ammons and Walter Hunter.
The staff of Hunter's Body Shop and Catherine Mason family will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
