Jack Howard Powell, 87, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Born in Stamford, TX, he was the son of the late James Edward Powell and Ethel Lee Bible. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jarvis Powell who passed away March 8, 2004 and a sister, Eddis Lyon. He was a US Coast Guard Veteran and an International Revenue Agent for 35 years. Jack was a former member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of the choir. He was on the Baptist Men's Disaster Team, Prison Fellowship and Campers on Mission. He was a charter member of Centerpoint Community Fellowship, where he will be long remembered for his loving contribution to the lives of young people. Jack loved fishing and enjoyed nature.

He is survived by his wife, Loraine Angel Corbin Powell; two children, Nancy Ellis and husband Kevin of Magnolia, TX and Cathy Sill and husband John of Franklin; two step sons, Larry and Keith Corbin of Fayetteville, GA; two grandchildren, William Powell Ellis and Amanda Claire Ellis Clements; a great grandson, Jackson Clements; five step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Grace Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ken Jones and Rev. Bernie Calloway will officiate. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 4, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Corbin, Ron Butts, Dan Cloer, Tyler Butts, Tyler Higdon and Joshua Corbin.
