Irene Mitchell Morgan, of Franklin passed away at home on Saturday, December 21, 2013.
She graduated from Vanderbilt University, and taught and practiced nursing in the WWII European and Pacific Theaters, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia for many years. She retired from the Georgia State Board of Workman's Compensation in 1980.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Cartoogechaye. She was active in the Pilot's Club in Atlanta, and the Daughters of the King, St. Agnes Episcopal Church, Franklin. She served on the Boards of Deerfield Retirement Community and Thompson Orphanage.
She is survived by one son, Albert Rufus Morgan III of Franklin; one daughter, Anna Chipman Morgan Simmons of Seattle, WA; son-in-law, Dr. William Crispen Simmons; one granddaughter, J. Brie Simmons Nakamura of Seattle, WA; one grandson, W. Cris Simmons, Jr. of Seattle, WA; two great-grandchildren, W. Ayden and Riley M. Nakamura; and two nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Cartoogechaye at 1:00 P. M., Sunday, March 23, 2014. All are welcome.
