Franklin, NC – Ingeborg "Inge" Rompf, 91, passed away at home on Monday, October 14, 2019.

Born in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany, Inge was the daughter of Wilhelm and Charlotte Edinger and had one sister, Irene. Inge came to America at the age of 21 and lived in Rochester, NY, where she met and married her husband of 39 years, Everett.

Ingeborg retired from IBM in 1990. During her career of more than 20 years, she was recognized for her personal contribution to the success of the Saturn/Apollo program and the role she played in that mission.

Inge enjoyed traveling and often spoke fondly of her time living in Peru while her husband served in the Foreign Service. Prior to coming to Franklin in 2013, Inge lived in Bethesda, MD, where she was an active member and choir member of St John's Episcopal Church, a volunteer at the local senior center, and an avid supporter of the humane society. Inge loved to sing and played the organ.

Inge is survived by her niece, Esther Bansemer (Alexander) of Bonn, Germany; and nephew, Albert Rompf (Mary) of Franklin, NC; and two great-nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Inge's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Macon Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9th. Inge will be interred with her husband in The Memorial Garden at St. John's Episcopal Church.
