Obituary
Hugh "Sonny" Willis, 82, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010.
Born in Ocala, FL, he was the son of the late Lewis and Murle Berry Willis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Willis and two sisters Ouida Welbon and Eleanor. He was a U.S. Army veteran; member of Victory Baptist Church and retired from Western Electric. Hugh was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Orlee Dees Willis; a son, Mark Willis of Tampa, FL; a sister, Shirley Thomas of Ocala, FL; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Victory Baptist Church. Rev. Benny Bagwell, Rev. Dean Price and Rev. Buddy Driggers will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Don Kennedy, Larry Willis, David Willis, Aaron Mills, Chris VanHorn, Ernie Adamson, Frank Copeland, Dick Weaver and Jack Castle.
Memorial donations can be made to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 278 Victory Church Road, Sylva, NC 28779.
