Howard Jacob Mincey, 79, of Franklin, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Fred H. Mincey and Bessie Young Mincey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bud Mincey and two sisters, Joan Erbele and Freda Henry. Howard was a US Navy veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He worked for Alvin Crowe and Schmidt Construction; enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making; loved fishing with his grandchildren and loved reading his Bible. Howard was a member of Mashburn Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday school teacher for 15 years and Sunday School Superintendent. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Angel Mincey; son, Mike Mincey and wife Nora of Franklin; daughter, Darlene Klimas and husband Bill of Franklin; two grandsons, Billy and Kevin Klimas; three step-grandchildren, Brian and Brent Vinson and Katie Brunt; great-granddaughter, Madison Klimas and three step-great grandchildren, Neelley, Sam and Luke Vinson.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17th, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Greg Rogers and Rev. Wiley Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ellijah Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Vinson, Brent Vinson, Don Deal, Chuck Bailey, JD Gibson and Isaac Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mashburn Baptist Church.
