Obituary

Henry (Hank) Schuldt Burmester, 82 of Otto, North Carolina passed away November 16, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. A native of Avrill Park, NY, Hank grew up participating in every sport he could. He loved sports. As a result of this passion, Hank became a professional baseball umpire. And as one could imagine, he could always be found giving out advise to young players and coaches alike. But his all-time favorite sports team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Flying the Bucs flag at home was a given and all the neighbors knew to give local directions using it as a marker. Hank proudly served in the United States Army, and later in life became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. His genuine spirit to care became a hallmark of his wonderful life and career. Serving families brought him fulfillment and a sense of purpose to help others during one of life's toughest times. Hank truly loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Kaki Roberts Burmester, 4 children, Pamela Mathis (Danny), Cody, Roy and Chris Burmester along with two grandchildren, Lloyd and Len Nettles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry James Burmester and Muriel Schuldt Burmester, and one brother, Fred Burmester. He also had a special little companion that he pulled to, his rescue dog, Braylie. Hank and Braylie had a special bond. He was of the Catholic faith and a Funeral Mass will be held at a later date. Moffitt Family Funeral Care is honored to serve Hank's family. Online condolences may be made at www.moffittfamilyfuneralcare.com .
