Obituary

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, Helen Holden White joined the Alto section of Heaven's choir and is now singing perfect praise in perfect harmony with the heavenly host. Helen held a deep love and devotion for her Savior, her family, her church and any song of praise to God sung in rich vocal harmony.

She was born July 26, 1940 to the late Coburn and Beulah McCoy Holden in the Oak Grove community of Macon County.

She was an excellent seamstress and would often gather her children around the radio for "Hymn Time" while she sewed clothing for her six daughters.

She was the wife of the late Joseph A. White, Jr. who has been singing with the heavenly host since October 2017. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Holden Angel, grandson William Drinnon, and son-in-law Eldon Tallent.

She leaves behind six daughters to continue their choir practice. In the Soprano section Tammy Drinnon (Tony), and Vivian Shaye Wood, Tenor-Teresa Holland (Danny), Altos - Cheryl Southard (Steven) and Tamara Deal (Don), all of Franklin, and in the String section - Rebecca Green of Sylva, NC.
"Mamaw White" also leaves behind a children's choir of 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Four siblings, Katherine Teem, Kenneth Holden, Jerry Holden, Linda Peterson and her treasured church family at Emmanuel Baptist are also left.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 pm Saturday, March 9, at Macon Funeral Home.

A service of celebration and, of course, some singing will be held at 3 pm Sunday, March 10, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Smith, Rev. Josh Helton, Rev. Nathan Johnson, Rev. Tony Drinnon and Rev. Howard Southard officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Holland, Jeremiah Holland, Cody Southard, Matthew Drinnon, Carey Deal, Taylor Fenoglia and Daniel Wilson.

Memorial donations can be made to the Victory Christian School, 278 Victory Church Road, Sylva, NC 28779.

To the sour notes of cancer and amputation, "nice try", but you never took her song!

Macon Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
