Hazel Louise Rogers, 82, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Monday, April 3, 2006.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar L. Buchanan and Edna Pickelsimer Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Rogers who died in 1997 and five sisters, Ruby Justice, Annie Dykes, Myrtle Campbell, Margie Cabe and Virgie Buchanan and one brother, Neville Buchanan. She was a member of Dryman's Chapel Methodist Church. Hazel worked at the U.S. Forest Service Older American Program. She loved children and was a babysitter for many families over the years.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Taylor of Otto, Judy Estes of Franklin; four sons, Calvin Rogers of Otto, Ray Rogers of Franklin, Randall Rogers of Baldwin, GA and Jerry Rogers of Franklin; two brothers, James Buchanan of Otto and Kenneth Buchanan of Sharpsburgh, GA; two sisters, Verna "Tee" Henry and Beatrice Bell both of Otto; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Dryman's Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Jerome Hamm will officiate. Burial will be in the Wright Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Josh Estes, Neal Buchanan, Billy Dykes, Gary Buchanan, Jimmy Henry, Junior Cabe, Harold Justice and Terry Bell.
