Obituary

James "Harvey" Hastings, 71, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Born in Macon County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Frank G. Hastings and Sarah Marie Mason Hastings and a sister, Reba Sue Hastings Worley. Harvey was a US Army veteran, life member of VVA Chapter 994 and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking in the mountains, fishing and golfing; was an avid John Wayne fan and enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour western books.

He is survived by three children, Luke Hastings (Nicole Taylor) of Tiger, GA, Teresa Robinson (Bruce) of Mt. Holly, NC and Lisa Jennings (Chad) of Belmont, NC; brother, Sam Hastings (Debra) of Franklin; four sisters, Dale McConnell (LeeRoy) of Franklin, Marilyn Hastings, Cathy Tippett (Bryan) and Alice "Ab" Bradley (Mike) all of Otto; two grandchildren, Andrew and Beth and two great grandchildren, Caiden and Lylli.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 3 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Phillip Cochran, Rev. David Hastings and Rev. Andy Cloer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the VVA Chapter 994.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 2 at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bradley, Daniel Dills, Wayne Wilburn, David Hastings, Chris Burns, Tommy Fountain, Steve Fountain, Kevin McConnell, Logan Bradley and Cayden Burns.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Macon Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses or to the VVA Chapter 994.
