Harry Cloyd Brown, 90, of Franklin, NC, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died peacefully in his sleep on September 21, 2013.
He was born in Asheville, NC on December 2, 1922. A WWII veteran, he served with the 2nd Engineers as part of the D-Day invasion force and continued through the Battle of the Bulge before his honorable discharge. He later graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He and his wife retired in 1995 to Franklin, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Byrnes-Brown and his four children: Catherine Brown of Newell, AL, Michael Brown of Atlanta, Gary Brown of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Steven Brown of Canton, GA. Additionally, he is survived by three grandsons: Cullen Brown, Dustin Brown and Daniel Brown.
He will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, GA 30114 with military funeral honors on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 am. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
