Obituary

Harry Alexander Brabson, 85, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011.

Born in Macon Co., he was the son of the late Alex Brabson and Bonnie Melton Brabson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, RL Brabson and Dan Brabson; four sisters, Jean Brabson, Blanche Shope, Cora Mattes and Madge Cabe. Harry was a US Army veteran and served in the European Theater during WWII. He retired after 30 years from the State Highway Department with the bridge crew. Harry was a kind and gentle man and friend to all. He will be remembered for always putting others first. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Harry was an active member of Prentiss Baptist Church serving as long time deacon, Sunday School teacher and superintendent of Sunday School.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna Mae Buchanan Brabson; daughter, Jo Ann Bateman and husband Eddie of Franklin; four sons, James Brabson and wife Jane of Asheville, NC, Roger Brabson and wife Pauline, Jerry Brabson and Nathan Brabson and wife Toni all of Franklin; brother, Perry Brabson; ten grandchildren, Laura, Lisa, Sara, Jennifer, Amanda, Angela, David, Matt, Luke and Jackson; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, at Prentiss Church of God. Rev. Tim Hayes, Rev. Lloyd Fish and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Goforth, Matt Bateman, Luke Bateman, Joe Dean, David Brabson, David Jenkins and Michael Weaver.
