Grace Bates Stamey, 93, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Napoleon Bates and Mary Angie Shook. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband Howard Cleveland Stamey; son, Jack Stamey; daughter, Mary Ann Watts; siblings, Boyd Bates, Barnett Bates, Doc Bates, Grady Bates, Dolly Moffitt, Omie Bell, Ida Tallent and Gordy Smiley and grandson, John Howard Stamey. Grace was a lifelong native to Franklin and was a homemaker. She was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church.
Grace is survived by two sons, Lloyd Stamey and wife Joyce of Franklin, Sherill Stamey and wife Mary Ellen of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Florence Stamey of Franklin; son-in-law, Derlad Watts; sister, Pauline Martin and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt and Rev. Ernie Jamison will officiate. Burial will be in Rush Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Stamey, Scott Stamey, Tyler Stamey, Coleman Stamey, Chris Queen and Derald Queen.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 7-9:00 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
