Glen Samuel Dougherty, 80, of Franklin, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010.

He was the son of the late Jay Edwin Dougherty and Iva Loomis Dougherty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older brother, Edwin L. Dougherty. Glen graduated from Port Byron, NY High School in 1947 and attended Auburn Business School. He was of the Korean War time, serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on January 1, 1955. He worked 35 years for a farmer's co-op in the northeast, managing Farm Supply Stores and Petroleum plants. He was a past-master of the Wolcott, NY Masonic Lodge; and was a member of American Legion Posts in Inverness, FL and Franklin, NC. Glen was a member of the Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Opal J. Hearn Dougherty; three sons, Donald Jay, Robert Arnold and Raymond Arthur; grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Kathrine and Raymond; great granddaughter, Violet and Tabathia; and older sister, Elvena Lyon.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Lyons and Rev. Vic Greene will officiate. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1 in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
