George "Bob" Waldroop, 87, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Grady Waldroop and Nannie Battle Waldroop. In addition he was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Sanders who died in 2009; son, Tommy Waldroop who died in 2005; brothers, Siler and Quintin and sisters, Katherine and Ethel. George worked for the Forest Service, he was of the Methodist faith, he loved gardening and sharing his vegetables, telling stories and he loved the mountains.
He is survived by three children, Danny Waldroop and wife Sandy and Mike Waldroop all of Franklin and Joyce Simonds and husand Delbert of Bryson City, NC; son-in-law, Bruce Sanders of Franklin; one sister, Belva Anderson of Moultree, GA; four brothers, Glenn Waldroop and Wendell Waldroop both of Franklin, Mickey Waldroop and Howard Waldroop both of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Amy Simonds of Bryson City, Allen Waldroop and Christopher Waldroop both of Franklin and four great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Lee Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Maidens Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be J.J. McCall, Steve Hopkins, Chris Waldroop, Allen Waldroop, John Souterland and Mark Albrecht.
