George B. Stanley, 70, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Tues., February 7, 2006.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late James Monroe Stanley and Jessie Luna Franks Stanley. He was married to the late Margaret Carpenter Stanley and was preceded in death by five brothers, D.C., LeRoy, Bill, Cecil and James. George was a logger and welder. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Virginia "Scoop" Giles and huband, Mike Giles and Doris Stanley both of Franklin; three sisters, Bonnie Holbrooks, Mary Sue Ledford and Jean Ellen Stanley all of Franklin; five brothers, Chester, Frank, Harold, Fred and Robert all of Franklin; two grandchildren, Georgia Lynn Giles and Crystal Giles both of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 9, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Carson Gibson and Rev. Bobby Cloer will officiate. Burial will be in the Gillespie Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Stevie Stanley, Chuckie Stanley, Donnie Stanley, Scottie Stanley, Charlie Byrd and Greg Johngrass.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Nephews and Great Nephews.
