George Paul Kistner, Jr., 67, of Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008.
Born in Lakeland, FL, he was the son of George P. Kistner and the late Annie C. Lynch Kistner. George was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired police officer with a combined 38 years of service (25 years from Lakeland Police Dept. and 13 years from the Polk County Sheriffs Department). He loved fishing and visiting the mountains of North Carolina, where he later moved to after his retirement in 2006.
In addition to his father, George P. Kistner and stepmother Omega Kistner of Plant City, FL, George is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sherri Morris Kistner; daughter, Angela L. Groshans and husband Mike of Lakeland, FL; son, George P. Kistner, III and wife Rhonda of Merritt Island, FL; one granddaughter, Amanda Ramirez of Canton, NC; three great grandchildren, Jordan, Christian and Trinity; and his aunt and uncle Bill and Louise Brosier of Cocoa Beach, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 125 West Brannen Road, Lakeland, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Great Smoky Mountains Association, 115 Park Headquarters Road, Gatlinburg, TN 37738 (www.smokiesstore.org) or Angel Hospice, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
