George Alden Taylor, Jr., 93, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1915 to George A, Taylor, Sr. and Florence Hassett Taylor. In 1968, he moved his family to Franklin from Jacksonville, FL. Hewas a member of the Appraisal Institute and worked throughout western North Carolina as a self employed real estate appraiser until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, thirty-second degree member of the Scottish Rite Masons and former member of the Rotary Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Coleman Taylor, who died in 1989 and his second wife, Ruth Parrish Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles E. Davis, Jr. who died in 2006.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Florence Waldroop Taylor; daughter, Priscilla Alden Barron and husband Jim, of Woodstock, Georgia; son, George Alden Taylor III and wife Sharon of Franklin; two grandchildren, Carrie Davis Smith and husband Keith and Daniel Davis and wife Heather, all of Columbia, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, at Macon Funeral Home with Reverends Harold Ball, Robert Dryman and Tommy Fouts officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
