Obituary
Geneva Gibson Guffey Elliott, 79, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011.
Born in Macon Co. she was the daughter of the late Rev. James Carroll Gibson and Eva Jane Houston Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Lee Guffey. Geneva was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Liberty Baptist Church where she was active in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Alvin Elliott; two sons, Joel Guffey of Sylva and Jerry Guffey and wife Freda of Sylva; two brothers, Rev. Wiley Gibson of Franklin and Rev. Carson Gibson of Franklin; a sister, Eloise Poindexter of Franklin; two grandchildren, Angie Dills of Sylva and Adam Guffey of Sylva; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Alton Dendy, Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. Eddie Stillwell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Adam Guffey, Jamie Dills, Connie Gibson, Danny Gibson, Jimmy Carson Hall and Daniel Jenkins.
Memorial donations can be made to Angel Hospice General Fund, 170 Church Street Franklin, NC 28734.
