Obituary
Gary Lee Gooder, 70, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2006.
A native of Sidney, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leslie Gooder and Lorraine Thompson Gooder. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Gary was owner, publisher and editor of the Macon County News.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betsey Bach Gooder; two sons, Guy Gooder and wife Alicia of Franklin and Colin Gooder of Franklin; one daughter, Anita Safron and husband, Perry of Wake Forest, NC; one brother, Albert Gene Gooder and wife LeRue of Sidney, Ohio; three grandchildren, Samantha Crews of Wake Forest, NC, Krash Gooder and Sydney Gooder both of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. John Makinson will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at Macon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewis Rathbun Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or www.lewisrathbuncenter.org.
