Garth Lloyd Ensley, age 57, a resident of Cumming, Georgia, died at his home on May 14, 2012, after a lengthy battle with health problems. He was born on July 11, 1954, to Grace Brendle Ensley and Lloyd Edgar Ensley.
Garth was a native of Franklin, North Carolina where he attended Franklin High School. He graduated from Western Carolina University with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology. He worked as a Medical Technologist and Laboratory Director in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Garth was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving relatives include: two devoted sons, Cade Ensley and Brandon Ensley and his loving daughter-in-law Heidi Holcomb Ensley; Garth's former spouse Cheri Clem Ensley; brothers, Trent Ensley and wife, Suk of Burke, Virginia, Todd Ensley and wife Teresa of Franklin, NC, and Brett Ensley and wife, Laura of Clyde, NC; sister Gwen Ensley Koehler and husband, Scott of Oak Ridge, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Garth's life will be held at the First Christian Church of Franklin, located at 156 Belleview Park Road, on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. The family is pleased that Garth's cousin, Rev. George Davis, who is Pastor of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Asheville, NC, will officiate the service. A private interment will be held immediately afterward.
Garth had an engaging personality that endeared him to those he encountered. He had an insatiable curiosity about life on this earth and beyond. His love of science led him to his career in Medical Technology. He was immensely proud of his sons, Cade and Brandon, and loved them beyond measure. He will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123), an organization that became important to Garth following the death of his dear mother.
