Fred "Freddie" Lyle McConnell Jr., 58, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Fred L. McConnell Sr. and Dorothy Long McConnell. Freddie enjoyed his old cars, meeting at car shows and loved hunting at his deer camp. He was owner of Fred McConnell's Roofing. Freddie was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Hawks McConnell; son, Todd McConnell and wife Heather of Franklin; brother, Elbert McConnell and wife Martha of Franklin; three sisters, Pat Craig, Clara Bell Tallent and husband Buster and Becky McConnell all of Franklin and grandson, Casey Browning.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Black Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. Ernie Jamison, Rev. Danny Cannon and Rev. Foreman Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Cap Donaldson, Curt Gentry, Jeff Clark, Casey Browning, Skip Sanders and Robert Moffitt.
Neville Clark, Jamie Donaldson, Buster Tallent, Adam Tallent, Jared Crawford, Larry Tallent and Dewayne Tallent will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Memorial donations can be made to Black Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
