Obituary
Fred B. August, 79, of Franklin, passed away February 1, 2015.
Born in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Samuel Joseph August and Hilma Hannah Rose August. Fred attended Emory University, was former owner of August Homes in Dillsboro and August Brothers Bakery in Miami, FL. He also worked for two timeshare organizations; was a certified pistol instructor and gun enthusiast; motorcyclist and loved dogs and cats.
He is survived by his son, Sam of New Jersey; three daughters, Michele of New York, Allison of Massachusetts and Deborah of El Salvador; and Fred's significant other for 10 years, Dr. Penny Brewster.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at Macon Funeral Home. Rabbi Wolff Alterman will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at Macon Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Jackson County Humane Society, PO Box 298, Sylva, NC 28779 or Appalachian Animal Rescue Center, PO Box 81, Franklin, NC 28734.
