Frances Simonds Holbrooks, 65, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008.
Born in Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Simonds and Laura DeHart Simonds. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle and Delpha and four brothers, Frank, Ernest, Walter and Vaughn. Frances was cafeteria manager for Cowee Elementary School and was a member of Burningtown Baptist Church where she served as secretary.
She is survived by her husband, Boyd Holbrooks; one son, Mike Holbrooks of Franklin; five sisters, Ruby Harris and Betty Howie both of Harrisburg, NC; Irene Belk and Violet Tollivar both of Matthews, NC and Joyce Drinnon of Hazelwood, NC; two brothers, Bill Simonds and Hoyt Simonds both of Franklin; two grandchildren, Joe Holbrooks and Austin Holbrooks; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 26, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
