Obituary

Frances Rogers Baldwin, 92, passed away Monday at her home on Raoul Road in Highlands, June 18, 2007.

Frances was born December 25, 1914 in Highlands, NC. She was the daughter of the late Dave and Nora Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Henry Baldwin and two sons, David and Robert. Frances was a devoted homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. Frances loved children and was known as a child care giver to many families in the Highlands community. Frances opened her home, as a foster mother, to over 27 children with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Cherokee, NC. She was well known for her love of children and all people. She was a avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Highlands, NC and served as Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her three children, Betty Sullivan and husband, Gene of Highlands, Jack Baldwin and wife, Jo Ann of Franklin, and Bert Baldwin of Franklin; one sister, Kathleen Wilson of Highlands; sister-in-law and life long friend, Pearl Rogers Lambert of Highlands; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and care giver and friend Elizabeth McConnell.

Frances will be greatly missed by family and friends and will remain in their hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Highlands First Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Robinson and Rev. John Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the Highlands Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Thursday, at the church.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highlands First Baptist Church, 220 Main Street, Highlands, NC 28741.
