Evelyn Ayers Mathis, 74, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010.
Born in Robbinsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Ayers and Ruby Harwood Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Mathis III; son-in-law, William R. Powell; and two brothers, Maurice Ayers and Melvin Ayers. Evelyn was a member of Cullasaja Assembly of God. She was a prayer warrior and faithful witness for the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Frank Mathis, Jr.; two children, Linda M. Orr of Franklin and Lisa Powell Dunlap and husband Stanton of Palo Alto, CA; one brother, James Ayers of Montgomery, AL; two sisters, Anne Turner of Morganton, GA and Jean Stiles of Mountain Home, NC; six grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 9, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. James Cannon will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, at Macon Funeral Home.
