Evelyn Blanton Buchanan, 71, of Franklin, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 surrounded by her family.

Born in Macon County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Glenn Blanton and Dessie Carson Blanton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virgie Blanton Stanfield who died October 19, 1999 and a brother, Frank Glenn Blanton, Jr. who died June 11, 2010. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafts and crossword puzzles. She was a member of Iotla Baptist Church and attended First Alliance Church. Evelyn was a dedicated and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 51 years, Branch Buchanan; daughter, Karen Buchanan Bacon and husband Barry of Franklin; a son, Larry Buchanan and wife Missy of Franklin; four grandchildren, Andy Alligood and wife Holly, Jessica Alligood, Matthew Buchanan and James Buchanan all of Franklin; two step granddaughters, Jennifer Bacon Barbour and Elise Bacon and step great grandchild, Elijah Barbour.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 7, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves, Rev. Mitch Schultz, Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, February 6 at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Brabson, Doug Stanfield, Nelse Bates, Lee Holland, Clyde McCall and Bill Bryson.
