Evelyn Frances Alstat passed away April 3, 2018. Born in Franklin, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Myrtle (Vinson) Ballew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Alstat, granddaughter Amy, sister Anna Lou (Toots) Baty, two brothers- 2year old Bryant and Wayne Ballew (Marilyn).

Evelyn moved to Michigan in the early 1940s where she worked as a telephone switchboard operator. She married William Alstat in 1947. They made their home in the Pontiac, Michigan area where they reared their two children, Dale and Kathy. After retirement, they made their home near Evelyn's childhood home in the Tessentee community in Otto. NC. After her husband bill passed away in 2005, she later moved to Traverse City, MI near her daughter until her passing.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Dale (Beverly) Alstat, Decorah, Iowa, her daughter, Kathy (Gary) Twardowski, Traverse City, Michigan, 4 grandsons, Justin Wilcox, Tony, Bryon and Cody Alstat, 7 great grandchildren, her brother, Joe (Pat) Ballew, Sister Mary (Gerald) Keener, a nephew and several nieces.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She had a wonderful personality and will be greatly missed.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held April 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at Wright Cemetery (Dryman's Chapel Methodist Church) with Vic Greene officiating. Family will meet friends after the celebration.
